At 5:00pm the doors open to a one-night only, pop-up museum full of heritage exhibits curated by the Halton Heritage Partnership and friends. The pop-up museum will focus on the theme of ‘bridges and crossings’ in Halton’s development and members from the Partnership will be on-hand to talk you through their collections. Also, to mark their 300th anniversary, Widnes Freemasons will be hosting small group tours around the Masonic Hall and from 6pm a talk on the heritage of masonry will be delivered in the upstairs Lodge Room.

From Bessie Dutton – ‘who went about doing good’, to Deborah Ellam – who was ‘transported to parts across the seas’, to the Earp sisters – who nursed sick soldiers at the Oaklands in WW1, to ladies from Moore and Daresbury WI who worked tirelessly throughout WW1 and of course, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ – who was simply extraordinary in every way.

125 Years of the Manchester Ship Canal
This year we are celebrating 125 years of the Manchester Ship Canal. Come along to the church fete and see our display about the construction, opening and how it affected the lives of those who lived in Daresbury Parish. If you have any other anecdotes, we’d love to hear them.

This year we are celebrating 125 years of the Manchester Ship Canal – come and see our display and find out about its construction, opening and impact on the local community.
There will also be a display about an 1850’s ‘Agricultural Tour through the Parish of Daresbury’ and stories of ‘Our Gallant Heroes’ – the men from WW1 who went to war, returned home safely and were awarded gallantry medals.

Remembrance Sunday Display – Our WW2 Soldiers
Four men who died are commemorated on the war memorial. We have researched their stories and would like to share them with you. Bring along any other WW2 stories that you would like to share with us – this is just the start of our new project to tell the story of the parish in WW2 and commemorate those who fought and died.
