Working Lives Project

From the 1830s onwards Halton was transformed, from a place of largely rural settlement to an industrial powerhouse, home to thousands of workers.

Images digitised during the Halton Heritage Partnership 'Working Lives' HLF project (2015-16)The Working Lives project explores this rich heritage, and the impact these changes had on the lives of local people then and on us now.

The project celebrates the lives of the everyday folk who worked in the borough, and tells their stories.

As part of the project, we recorded oral histories, digitised objects, photographs and documents, and shared the stories we uncovered through quirky events, heritage trails and creative performances.
