31st August and 1st September 10:00-16:00hrs
Unlock Runcorn invite you to this public event between the railway viaduct and Percival Lane – look out for the gazebos
UNLOCK RUNCORN are happy to announce their first major public event since the pandemic. Earlier this year the charity successfully applied for an Area Forum grant from Halton Borough Council to enable some limited archaeological excavations on the canal route.
Come along, join in and find out more about our exciting new projects and where our plans to relink the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship canals are up to.
On Saturday 31st August we will excavate with the aim of exposing some of the original canal structures where the two lines of locks met between the railway viaduct and Percival Lane in an area known as the “bull nose”.
As well as providing important information about the condition of the buried structures, this is a community event. We are looking for people to get involved. If you are 18 years or older, in good health and willing to wield a shovel then please get in touch. We will provide all the equipment & PPE. To get involved please contact finance@unlockruncorn.org in the first instance.
